The Italian environmental labeling system for packaging will become mandatory starting from 1st January 2023. The Environmental Law (Testo Unico Ambientale – TUA) transposed Directive (EU) 2018/852 on packaging waste with Legislative Decree 116/2020, and applies the European Commission Decision n. 97/129/EC already recognized within the countries of the Union.
The law provides that starting from 2023, every packaging released for consumption on the Italian territory will have to display the related material’s alpha-numeric code, in compliance with European Commission Decision, and the waste disposal information (collection + family of material).
As Atlantis, we took the opportunity to simplify the types of labeling and packaging with a view to optimizing and reducing them, resulting thereby in decreasing the waste generated by our company.
